I have spoken in past posts about how much I am enjoying listening to books in the car - and I am still enjoying it (recently finished reading "You Had Me at Woof" - the story about a woman who adopted a Boston Terrier from a rescue group and her subsequent triumphs and trials volunteering with the rescue group). My "Queen" is a Boston Terrier so the story was near and dear to my heart. And now...ta da!...I have a Kindle Fire, and I LOVE reading books on my Kindle. One hand only is needed, AND, I can make the print work for my aging eyes :-) Of course there is the regular printed book which still plays an important part in my life. This morning I was gifted with a book of William Blake's writings - how sweet! And when I DO get back to longer dog walks, I can make use of the Library's "Playaway"s, an MP3 self-contained book - you need add only headphones. Reading, reading, in every way!
Today I stopped to see a woman from the church where I work before coming home to show her how to get back to her book on the Kindle one of her daughters had given her. She is the "Queen of Hospitality" so I did not get out of there without sharing a bowl of soup with her. I cannot recall exactly what we were talking about but we got on the subject of heaven and she said "When I get to heaven I'm going to ask for a car!" I asked why, and it was so she could do all the things she enjoyed doing when she could drive - visiting people who needed companionship, taking a casserole to this one or that family, oh, and shopping too. I countered "When I get to heaven I'm going to ask for a dog." She allowed that this made good sense since I have known such pleasure and company from my animals. I wonder what you might ask for, when you get to heaven... And maybe we should all put books on our wish list!
