"Stones make a wall, walls make a house, houses make streets, and streets make a city. A city is stones and a city is people; but it is not a heap of stones, and it is not just a jostle of people." J. Bronowski, The Assent of Man
The ‘touchstones’ of my faith journey have been people – many, many of them – whose modeling of the ways they lived their faith has made me want to keep growing in mine. My limited understanding of how to live my faith has been informed and challenged as I have journeyed alongside others. These ‘touch stones’ have included parents, children, friends, ‘church folk’ in many settings, colleagues, folk struggling with disability, illness, and death. I have heard Dr. Harvey Cox speak of ‘human indicators’ of God’s love. How grateful I am for those ‘human indicators’ in my life – those touchstones of my faith.
