We sang a hymn at the church where I work this past Sunday, “We Yearn, O Christ for Wholeness.” The second stanza caught my attention on the subject of connecting:
We long to have companions who travel by our side, strong friends to call and answer with whom we are allied; As we lift up each other when struggles lay us low, community develops; our faith and caring grow.
Yesterday I had a chance to connect with a friend over dinner. I commented to her that working on the blog feels to me a bit like tending a garden. It is something to be nurtured, something that grows and changes. In return it amazes me with what it gives back – in feedback from those of you out there who are checking in from time to time, letting me know when you agree with something I said or have a different sense altogether. We call each other to grow, to bend toward the light. It is good to be in community – in which “our faith and caring grow.” I thank you for being a part of the garden in which I live and grow.
